Our New Board Members
Te Taku Parai
Te Taku Parai was born and raised in Takapuwahia and has a strong knowledge of Ngati Toatanga. He has a Bachelor of Arts (History/Sociology) Honours 1st Class (Maori) and is studying towards a PhD.
Taku is the Maori Service Development for Compass Health, Maori and Population Health Team. He is elected Iwi Member of Te Runanga o Toa Rangatira Board and has been the chair for several years. He is the Kaumatua fro Porirua City Council and is a strong advocate for the people of Porirua.
Taku has sat on a number of Boards and has been an intergral part of Whitireia Community Polytechnic Executive team from 2001-2015 and is now the Whitireia Recruitment, South Island Whanau Ora Commission (Putahitanga), Te Runanga o Ngati Toarangatira.
The Governance skills, experience and networks that Taku has will support and enhance the work and direction of the Porirua Whanau Centre Board.
Roslyn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB (Hons) and a Master’s Degree in taxation studies (MTaxS (Hons). She is a Senior Solicitor for Inland Revenue Department and is currently on secondment to Crown Law for 12 months, an assignment she has been pleased to accept.
Roslyn was elected to the Board at the February 2016 AGM. Originally from Awarua in the far north Roslyn has lived in the Wellington region for the last 12 years. Her legal experience and understanding of the New Zealand tax system and obligations are particular skills that will strengthen the Trust with their move into Social Housing.
Married to Wayne, with two adult daughters and a grandson on the way, we welcome Roslyn to the Board and look forward to her professional expertise that will enhance and support the capability of the organisation and its growth.
